Stanley Wilson Kornegay went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his family on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Baptist Hospice of Columbus, MS.

Visitation for Mr. Kornegay will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Adaton Methodist Church in Starkville. Rev. Charlie Simmons will conduct the service.

Stanley was born on August 26, 1950 in Starkville, MS to Woodrow and Hester Kornegay. He was a self-employed contractor for over 50 years with Kornegay Construction Company. Stanley married Ginger Kornegay on June 5, 1982 and they have five children.

He was a devout Christian, who served his church in many ways, including as Sunday School teacher. He was a devoted husband and loving father. He began working as a dairy farmer as a teenager, as well as with his father in the family construction business. He took over the family business and has seen it blossom over the years. Stanley leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and kindness. He will be greatly missed by all.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Hester Kornegay; and his brother, Curtis Kornegay.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ginger Kornegay; five children, Mike Kornegay (Ashley) of Moundville, AL, Dawne Kornegay Gibson (Tommy) of Cottondale, AL, Rhonda Warren (Todd) of Brandon, MS, Angela McClelland of Flowood, MS, and Misty Betts (Stevie) of Pontotoc, MS; nine grandchildren, Hunter Gibson, Maxwell Warren, Maddie Bates, Landon Bates, Aiden Bates, Bralynn Betts, Steven Betts, Haden Jones, and Cole Jones.
