Obituary for Virginia Fay "Fay" Owen

Virginia  Fay "Fay"  Owen
Virginia Fay Owen, 86, died May 4, 2019, at the Carrington Nursing Center. Services will be at 1:00 on Monday at Fellowship Baptist Church with Brother Dickie Bryan officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation is from 12:00 to 1:00 at Fellowship Baptist Church. Welch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Owen was born December 11, 1932 in Cranston, Kentucky to the late H. Lee Reed and Eulah Reed.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, William “Bill” Owen of Starkville; her sons Robert Owen (Debbie), Starkville; Tony Owen, Louisville, MS; 3 grandchildren Bryan Butler (Heather) of Eupora, Treasure Butler of Starkville, William Owen of Starkville; 3 great grandchildren Cadence Butler, Randee Butler, and Marleigh Gilbert, brother H.Lee Reed,Jr. (Maggie) of Sebring,FL.

Mrs. Owen was formerly owner of Act Two resale shop in Starkville and administrative secretary to Sonny Kelly at Oktibbeha County Hospital. She and her husband, Bill, shared a love for flying planes and she also had her pilot’s license. She loved her family, friends, and her church. She and Bill were charter members of Fellowship Baptist Church in Starkville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Fellowship Baptist Church in her memory. The family would like to thank Oktibbeha County Hospital and Carrington Nursing Center for their care during these last few days.

Pallbearers will be John Lee, Mark Hatcher, Blair McKinley, Jimmy Bonner, Dwight Reeves, and Ronnie Engelmann.

One of Fay’s favorite scripture verses is: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13.
