Ching-Fei Wu Kuo passed away in Saint Dominic’s hospital in Jackson in the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 22, after suffering a stroke the previous week. She was born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on January 3, 1938 to Kun-Yu and Zuh-Teh Lin Wu, and her family later moved to Taipei, Taiwan. She graduated from Taipei Commerce School and worked as an accountant before marrying the love of her life, Chiang-Hai Kuo, on August 16, 1959. Hai moved to Houston, Texas to attend graduate school, and Fei joined him in the United States in 1962, becoming a homemaker and starting their family. They moved their family to Starkville, Mississippi in 1970. Fei and her husband were founding and life-long members of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Starkville. Fei was preceded in death by her parents and an older brother, San-Tien Wu. She is survived by her husband; two children: Nancy Griffin (Tim) and Ben Kuo (Sharon); four grandchildren: Hannah McCollum (Reece), Jake Griffin, Madelyn Kuo, and Donovan Kuo; and a younger sister and brother: Chi-Fei Wu Lin and Chien-Chih Wu. Fei also leaves innumerable friends all over the world who are joining her family in mourning her loss. Her passion was her family, but she also had plenty of love, joy, generosity, and wisdom to share with the rest of the world. She aided, mentored, and fed countless international students and their families over the years, and she was always eager to help anyone in need. She never met a stranger.

Her family will host a visitation at Welch Funeral Home on Friday, May 25, at 1:00pm, followed by a service celebrating her life at 2:00pm in the same location. Afterward, she will be interred in Oddfellows Cemetery in Starkville in a private, family-only service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers or other gifts, all who wish to honor Fei make donations to their favorite church or charity in her name.
