Marvin L. Kirkland, 89, passed away on December 17, 2017 at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville, MS. He was a retired teacher with East Mississippi Community College and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He was a WW II Veteran, serving in both the U.S. Marine Corp. and the U.S. Navy and also a member of Veterans of Foreign War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper Kirkland and Nettie Wood Kirkland.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine Yonce Kirkland of Starkville, MS; daughter, Abbie Misso (Ricky) of Starkville, MS; son, Walter Brent Kirkland of Grantville, SC; sister, Bobbie Kirkland Newell; grandchildren, Kirk Misso, Griff Misso (Audra), Briley Misso, and Alena Misso; and two great grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, December 22, 2017 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church in Starkville, MS, with the funeral service immediately following. Rev. Dickie Bryan will conduct the service. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery.
