Obituary for Eugenia Westmoreland Winn

Eugenia Westmoreland Winn (Genie), one of the unknown giants and unsung heroes of the Faith, left and entered her eternal glory on March 4, 2018. Eugenia was born December 5, 1922 in El Dorado, Arkansas to Johnny and Susan Westmoreland.

Eugenia was preceded in death by the love of her life, Curtley Ray Winn; her parents, Susan and Johnny Westmoreland; brothers, J.D., Jr., Mannon, James, and Douglas; sisters, June Silor, and Marilyn Macklen; and sons-in-law, Dr. G. Wayne Malone, David Knighten, and Dr. Travis D. Phillips, Sr.

She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Malone-Phillips of Starkville, MS, and Mildred Winn Knighten of Shreveport, LA; son, Curtley Ray Winn, Jr. of Vivian, LA; grandchildren, Genia Gusler (Chip), Stephanie Ford, Simon Knighten (Charity), Deborah DeMoss (Michael), and Rose-Mary Sanderson (Ray); MawMaw Noonie's great grandchildren, Nikki Ford, Bo Ford, Taylor Gusler, and Charlie, David, Tyler, and Liam Sanderson; sister, Suanne Kidd, New Iberia, LA; numerous nieces and nephews and longtime friend, Connie Peeples.

Eugenia and Curt were charter member of Christian Center Church, Shreveport, LA. She was active in Women's Aglow, serving as the first President of the Night Time Women's Aglow in Bossier City, LA. Eugenia was an LPN, working at Willis Knighton North Hospital in Shreveport, LA for over 20 years. She was also a breast cancer survivor.

Graveside services were held on March 9, 2018 at the Plain Dealing Cemetery in Plain Dealing, LA, conducted by her grandson, Simon Knighten. Eugene and Scott Peeples provided the music.

Pallbearers were: Cecil Winn, Rodney Walton, Michael DeMoss, Ray Sanderson, Eugene (Birdie) Peeples, and Scott Peeples. Honorary pallbearers were her great grandsons.
A special thank you to Brian Fitzgerald, LPN, who not only took care of our mother but loved her as much as she loved him. Thanks to Dr. Ben Sanford and to the staff of the Carrington Nursing Center in Starkville, MS for their care of our mother.
