Beth McKenzie Welch, aged 93, passed away of natural causes on Thursday, February 8, 2018. She was born on July 13, 1934, in Ashland, MS, and lived most of her life in Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents, Larkin Tarrant and Charlotte Valeria (Hix) McKenzie, and her beloved husband of 54 years, George Burns Welch; as well as 2 sisters and 4 brothers. She is survived by her son, Eric Burns Welch, his wife Susan Welch, and her granddaughter McKenzie Welch; and numerous nieces and nephews. She and Burns traveled throughout the United States and Latin American. Their home was a welcoming place for college students, friends and family. Beth, also known as Granny, lived a long, happy life. Although her hearing and memory eventually faded with age, she never lost her smile or sense of joy in life. She will be greatly missed, but we are forever thankful that she lived well and fully. A graveside service will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Memorial Gardens Park in Starkville, MS.
