Marcia Jo Hammond, 68, of Starkville MS, passed away on July 20, 2017 after a sudden illness.

A celebration of life will be held at Lake Kiowa TX on a date TBA. Friends and family will be notified at a later date. Final arrangements are being handled by Welch Funeral Home in Starkville.

Marcia was born in Ottawa KS on October 14, 1948. She graduated from Ottawa High School and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Business Administration from Emporia State University. Marcia was a member of Gainesville Bible Church in Texas.

Marcia was married to Michael Hammond, PGA Head Professional at MSU Golf Course on May 24, 1990 in Garden City KS; they were married 27 years. They spent 2 years in Little Rock AR, 14 years in Winfield KS, 9 years in Lake Kiowa TX and most recently Starkville MS.

Marcia was retired, but loved her part-time job at Lake Kiowa Pro Shop. Marcia enjoyed playing golf with her friends and husband, she also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and most recently Facebook.

Marcia is survived by her husband Mike, daughter Somer Patterson from Starkville, brother Richard (wife) Mary Allen from Topeka KS, three nephews and other family and many friends.

Marcia is preceded in death by her parents Marshall & Minnie Allen Ottawa KS and brother Robert Allen Omaha NE.
