Maurice Oswalt Parrish, 89, passed away at Oktibbeha County Hospital on Tuesday, June 13, 2017. Born on September 21, 1927, she was the daughter of John Hays and Emma Sue Reagan Oswalt of Choctaw County, Mississippi. She was always the Godly Christian inspiration to her family, whom she adored. God guided her life and she always set an example for others to follow in her Christian faith. She always loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and loved family get togethers. She was first and foremost a homemaker and mother, but also worked at the Mississippi State Seed Laboratory and was a licensed real estate agent. Until her health prevented it, she loved working in her yard and planting beautiful flowers of many varieties. She was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church in Starkville, Mississippi, where she taught a Sunday school class for years.
Mrs. Parrish loved her family dearly and was always caring for and holding them all up in prayer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Hays Oswalt and Emma Sue Reagan Oswalt; husband, Carl Stuart Parrish; son, Carl Stuart Parrish, Jr.; granddaughter, Laura Dean Norris; grandsons, Joshua Parrish McKay and Rufus Dee Lewis; sister, Edna Oswalt Shurden; and brothers, Eldridge Benton Oswalt and Valter Hays Oswalt.

She is survived by her daughters, Donna Parrish Norris (Jimmy), Marcia Parrish McKay (Roy), and Cindy Parrish Dorosh, all of Starkville, MS, and Lisa Parrish Turner (Nathan) of Tupelo, MS; daughter-in-law, Nannette Jackson Parrish of Starkville, MS; grandchildren, Andy Parrish (Heather) of Pheba, MS, Carla Parrish of Birmingham, AL, Jay Norris of Starkville, MS, Matthew McKay (Hannah) of Seattle, WA, and Cody Turner (Ariel) of Saltillo, MS; great grandchildren, Josiah Parrish, Elijah Parrish, and Mattie Grace Parrish, all of Pheba, MS, Isaac McKay and Eva McKay, both of Seattle, WA, and Lucie Kate Turner and Laura Beth Turner, both of Saltillo, MS.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS. Graveside services are scheduled for Friday, June 16, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Memorial Garden Park Cemetery, and will be conducted by her son-in-law, Roy McKay and her grandson, Andy Parrish.

Pallbearers will be Jay Norris, Matthew McKay, Cody Turner, Josiah Parrish, Elijah Parrish, and Duane Shurden.
