Obituary for Shirley Jeannette Carpenter (Mann)

Shirley Jeannette Mann Carpenter was born to Coy and Lois Mann on May 19, 1951 in Chester, MS. She was married to the love of her life, William (Billy) Carpenter on August 20, 1971 in Chester, MS. They moved to the Maben area in 1971 to set their roots and raise a family. She was a self-employed beautician of 30 years and a lover of travel.

Shirley received her angel wings on June 1, 2017 in the Baptist Memorial Hospital of Columbus, MS. She is now in the arms of her Heavenly Father celebrating a beautiful homecoming with those she loved who have gone on before her.

Shirley is preceded in death by her son, William Clark Carpenter, Jr.; her mother Lois Pauline Mann and father Coy Charles Mann; brothers John D. Mann, Clarence Earl Mann, Coy Ralph Mann, and a special Aunt Cammie Mann.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, William (Billy) Clark Carpenter; daughter Tabatha Jeannette Hessenius (Bill); son Thurman Lamar Box, and sisters, Topsy McElroy, Connie Shurden (Otha), Wanda Gray (Sam), and Robin Bell (Billy); brother Danny Mann (Debbie), 3 grandchildren, Trevor Clark Carpenter, Kirklan Paul McMinn, and Coy Oscar McMinn; a host of nieces and nephews, a very special mother-in-law , Linnie Carpenter, and the Church family she loved at Double Springs Baptist Church.

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Double Springs Baptist Church with a visitation prior to the service from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in Maben Memorial Gardens.
