Obituary for Kathryn Avent Ray
Kathryn Avent Ray, 84, a longtime resident of Bradley, MS, passed away on May 30th, 2016 at Winston Medical Center Nursing Home in Louisville, MS. She has been reunited with her beloved husband, C.H. Ray after eight years.
She was born in Clarkson, MS on March 24, 1932. She was a daughter of John and Lucille Avent. She was married to C.H. Ray on January 16, 1952. She was a homemaker and enjoyed working the garden and spending time with her family. While living in Bradley, she was an active member of the Bradley Church of God.
Mrs. Ray is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and two sisters. She has 10 living siblings.
Mrs. Kathryn Ray is survived by two sons, Roy Ray (Gwen) of Bradley, and John Ray (Sissy) of Sturgis, MS; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Welch Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Kerry Collins and Reverend Brian Wells officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Ridge Church Cemetery, located in Bradley.
She is loved by many and we rejoice in her homegoing!
She is a life to celebrate
For I know she's standing at the pearly gates
A jewel given to us so rare
There's not a person for which she did not care
Her favorite phrase "I preciate you and love you"
Oh what I'd give for one more
Heaven gained a mighty woman
A prayer warrior of no measure
A lifetime of memories
A one of a kind treasure!
